[Short Story]: Late Night Surprise

Josh had just gotten into bed. He was turning 9 tomorrow and was excited for his party. His mother had made him go to bed early. He got out of bed and decided he’d walk around till he tired out. He heard a faint crash and opened his room door slightly and peeked out. He heard a ruffling from the store room. He walked down to the front of the hall and heard another crash and a high pitched wail. The door was shaking. He was terrified. He put his ear to the door to listen but was surprised as something hit it. He wanted to run but he was 9 now. He was a big boy. He put his hand on the doorknob and threw the door open. A puppy bounded out and tackled him to the floor. “Looks like the surprise is ruined” he heard his mother say.
