I guess I’ve always liked Barbie dolls. Ma used to say dolls were for girls and boys shouldn’t play with them. I fell in love with how perfect their faces always were and how easy it was to change their clothes and tie their hair up. I remember one time I was playing with Jie’s Barbie dolls and she came in and smacked me, telling me to go and play outside. She never really liked me. I decided that since Jie wouldn’t let me play with hers and Pa wouldn’t buy me one that I’d make one of my own. Now looking at my own Barbie doll I’m really happy. Jie won’t tell me to go outside and play anymore cause she’ll be playing with me. I like tying her hair and changing her clothes. She’s starting to smell really bad though. I hope Ma won’t notice.
